Just an emotion
Kept deep in secret
Locked away from prying eyes

Harbored like a fugitive
Punished like a criminal
And yet it thrives

Held behind iron bars
Of pain and self control
All this time, it has survived

The love of one, never truly shown
An emotion, despised and deprived
A war fought for a prisoners demise
